- Logging in to the Encyclopedia : In order to access your account in the encyclopedia network, you must first login. The login form can be accessed by selecting 'Log in' from the top of the Tools menu.
- Request Permission to Author : In order to keep track of who is working on each section in the encyclopedia and to ensure that authors understand the dynamics of the encyclopedia system, prospective authors are required to complete a request to author application.
- Your Author Biography : Each author in the encyclopedia network has a biography created once thier authorship application is approved. Your biography will allow users of the network to gain information about you when viewing content that you have created.
- Joining the Encyclopedia (creating an account) : To contribute to the Forest Encyclopedia Network by authoring content, peer reviewing material, or becoming an editor, you must first create a user account. To join the network, choose the 'Join' option under the Tools menu entry.
- Setting Your Preferences : Your contact information is used to communicate important system details and announcements. In addition to your contact information, you can change the way various feaures of the encyclopedia appear or behave by customizing your account details.
- A Tour of Your Workspace : Your workspace is where you create content (pages, images, tables, etc.). You have complete control over the material that is found in your workspace.
